How We Help Asthma
We can help you with asthma at our Chagrin Falls clinic.
Signs or Symptoms
Excessive coughing, wheezing, and difficulty breathing following exposure to an
allergen or physical or mental stress.
Description
When people who are sensitive breathe in an allergen, the immune system goes into
high gear. The immune system produces a molecule called immunoglobulin E (IgE).
The IgE antibody causes mast cells, a type of specialized defensive cell, to release
chemical "weapons" into the airways. The airways then become inflamed
and constricted.
Causes
-
Compromised digestive system causing poorly digested food to create a histamine
response in the body causing breathing problems
-
Poorly functioning adrenal glands that cannot do their job to help produce hormones
to dilate airways
-
Allergic reaction to substances commonly breathed in such as animal dander, pollen
or dust mites
-
Physical exercise can induce asthma symptoms
-
Food allergies
-
Genetic predisposition
Our Approach
-
Structural problems that limit your breathing are tested for and corrected which
include: testing for adequate diaphragm function and rib expansion.
-
Spinal manipulation coupled with breathing exercises can dramatically increase your
vital capacity. Vital capacity is the amount of air you can breathe in.
-
Natural supplementation to:
-
Increase the production of specific hormones that dilate the airways to increase
your breathing capacity.
-
Support organs and systems that can have an adverse effect on breathing capacity
such as the adrenal glands, respiratory, digestive, cardiac and immune systems.
Testing may be done to determine the function of these organs and systems.
-
Food allergies are addressed.
-
Thus, a specific program for your needs is created that will cover the gamut from
nutritional support, structural corrections and home breathing exercises.
Please call our office to see how our holistic approach to asthma can benefit you.
